ROCKVILLE — The Montgomery County government prides itself on providing “Cadillac” levels of customer service to residents – and that policy even applies to those who have apparently run afoul of the law.

The county Police Department is now operating a dedicated Warrant Turn-In Facility, where individuals with outstanding warrants can give themselves up with no appointment necessary.

According to a press release, “the facility is intended to make the turn-in process more convenient and more efficient.”

That convenience applies not only for the person named in a warrant, but also for the county police officers who have to book them.

“Our officers, most of the time, are out patrolling and responding to calls,” says spokeswoman Rebecca Innocenti. “So oftentimes, an officer has to be called back to the station to meet with that person and then drive them to the central processing unit,” she adds. Since it’s already located at the County Detention Center, the Turn-In Facility will remove a step in the booking process for officers.

Of course, no system is perfect.

The new facility is open Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:00pm. Outside of those hours you’ll have to turn yourselves in at one of Montgomery County’s six District Police stations.

Sorry for the inconvenience, suspects.
