WASHINGTON — (WMAL) No one has won the Mega Millions jackpot since March 8th. Tuesday night’s jackpot is now at $454 million, and people are taking notice.
“We’re seeing sales during peak times of almost 4,000 tickets per minute,” says Virginia Lottery Spokesperson John Hagerty. “When the jackpot gets really high like this, we tend to see more people playing who don’t normally play.”
The odds of matching all six numbers to win a jackpot are 1 in 259 million, and the greatest sales “tend to be on the date of the drawing.”
While MegaMillions makes no secret of the steep odds facing players, matching just a few numbers will still yield rewards.
If no one wins this time, the jackpot will surpass a half billion dollars for Friday’s drawing.
