WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Chik-Fil-A is coming to Chantilly tomorrow, and already residents are lining up to earn a year’s worth of free meals from the franchise.

Residents have already begun lining up to win the prize, a year’s worth of free chicken sandwiches, waffle fries, drinks. Chik-fil-A reports that already 30 people have lined up outside of the restaurant less than two hours after the contest began. The first 100 local residents in line will be eligible for the free meals.

Doors open at 6am on Thursday, but residents were able to begin lining up 24 hours prior to the grand opening.

The event is only open to residents living in the community, and a listing of eligible zip codes is available on the Chik-fil-A website.

Residents lining up must be at least 18 years old.

The giveaway isn’t unique to this franchise opening. For the past 12 years, new Chik-fil-A restaurants have held the same promotion, giving away almost $27 million in free meals.

Including the Chantilly location, there are only two in the metro area.

A charity collection will also be held at the event, collecting children’s books for homeless youth with the Benefit Shelter House Inc.

The new location will be at 3454 Historic Sully Way in Chantilly. The new location is one of seven Washington metro area Chik-fil-A restaurants expected to open in 2016.
