SILVER SPRING, Md. — (WMAL) One passenger has been located following a crash in Silver Spring. The driver and the passenger are both potentially facing criminal charges stemming from drugs that police located in the vehicle following the accident.
Montgomery County police are searching for two additional passengers who fled a crash on Randolph Road at New Hampshire Avenue who may have witnessed to an earlier, fatal crash at Randolph by Kimblewick.
Montgomery County Police spokesman Captain Paul Starkstells WMAL that witnesses described up to three individuals fleeing the scene of the crash, although the driver stayed with the vehicle.
“That’s why there was a larger police presence at that scene as well,” said Captain Starks. “We needed to determine what involvement, if any, that vehicle had in the first crash.”
Police are actively searching for the passengers to both determine if they had witnessed the first crash and provide medical treatment if necessary.
A fatal, one vehicle accident in Silver Spring has temporarily closed a section of Randolph Road at Kimblewick shortly before 7:00am.
That vehicle crashed into a tree, fatally injuring the driver.
The second crash involved another single vehicle colliding with a pole further along Randolph Road at New Hampshire.
That driver remained with the vehicle following the crash, although witnesses have told Montgomery County Police that up to three passengers fled the scene of the accident.
Police have yet to release the victim’s name or the names of any of the passengers. Captain Starks could not confirm the amount nor the type of drug found in the vehicle.
