WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Panic at Dallas Love Field Airport as a man with a rock is shot by a police officer after refusing to drop it.

Dallas Police say the incident was a domestic dispute between a woman and the father of her children. They say he threatened to attack her with a rock and busted some of the windows in her car, which was parked near the baggage claim.

Then, a police officer stepped in and told the man to drop the rock, but he refused.

“A guy with dreads just had like a rock in his hand, walking toward police,” witness Bryan Armstrong said.

A video Armstrong shot on his cell phone shows people outside the airport scrambling and screaming as someone yells to get down.

Armstrong said police fired a few warning shots. “He dropped and then they told him to stop moving. He kept moving, then they shot him some more,” said the witness. A total of nine shots were fired.

The man was taken to the hospital. His condition has not been made public.

No children were injured. A number of passengers ran through security checkpoints during the chaos and had to be re-screened.

Flights are continuing as scheduled.
