  • 11th District GOP still on hunt for opponent to Connolly.  The 10-member 11th District committee now must decide whether to field another candidate in time to meet the state’s June 14 filing deadline. U.S. Rep. Gerald Connolly, a former Providence District supervisor who later chaired the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, has had an easy time of it at the polls during the three of his four congressional runs. He won 54.7 percent of the vote to Republican Keith Fimian’s 43 percent in 2008, allowing Connolly to succeed seven-term U.S. Rep. Tom Davis (R).
  • McAuliffe’s clemency order comes under scrutiny. RICHMOND — Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) mistakenly restored the right to vote to several violent felons currently in prison or on supervised probation, as part of his sweeping clemency order, records show. Among the 206,000 felons who were awarded voting rights are some high-profile killers whose crimes shocked their small communities.
