WASHINGTON (WMAL) — A district man robbed and kidnapped a person from a Red Line train and then sexually assaulted the individual according to Metro Transit Police. The victim was allegedly taken off a train going from Bethesda to Friendship Heights and then sexually assaulted.
Dominick Simons, 25, was charged Friday with first degree sex abuse. He was arrested and charged with armed robbery and kidnapping Wednesday. No other details have been released.
This is the second sexual assault on Metro in as many months. John Hicks, 39, is being held without bond after being charged with raping a woman on a Red Line train April 12.
That incident sparked outrage from the public because Metro officials never told riders about it. The story only came out after it was reported by a local TV station. In response to the backlash, Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld told transit police to let the public know about any violent crimes on Metro the day they happen unless that information would jeopardize the investigation.
