WASHINGTON — (WMAL) The Secret Service was in high alert Sunday afternoon due to some party balloons floating over, and landing on the lawn of the White House.
The situation was deemed clear around 1:20 pm.
The balloon scare follows an incident that occurred on Friday afternoon when a man brandished a weapon in front of a Secret Service officer, placing the White House under lock down.
The man was transported to the hospital in critical condition after being shot by the officer for refusing to put the weapon down.
According to Secret Service, President Obama was not in the District of Columbia for the White House lock down or balloon incident. He spent the day golfing on Friday and the weekend en-route to Vietnam.
