WASHINGTON (CNN) — It’s been 30 years since Ferris Bueller played hooky on the streets of Chicago, but fans will soon be able to relive that day on the big screen.
The iconic ’80s film “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” will return to select theaters across the country on May 15 and 18 in honor of the anniversary. Fathom Events and Turner Classic Movies will present the John Hughes comedy — starring Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck and Mia Sara — for two showings each day in 650 theaters nationwide as part of TCM’s Big Screen Classics series.
Turner Classic Movies is owned by CNN’s parent company.
The event will include special interviews with John Hughes and other cast members, plus all-new commentary from TCM host Ben Mankiewicz both before and after the feature. Tickets can be purchased at Fathom’s site.
Diehard fans may also want to attend “Ferris Fest: A 30th Anniversary Leisure Weekend,” a three-day event with various activities around Chicago where the film is set. “Ferris Fest” will run from May 20-22; events include displays, a screening of the film and a Q&A with some of the cast members.
