WASHINGTON (WMAL)– Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is scheduled to speak in Frederick, Md. Thursday morning. His appearance will come less than a week before next Tuesday’s Maryland primaries.
Frederick County GOP chair Billy Shreve says Cruz’s visit is “quite an honor.”
“Anytime a presidential candidate comes to visit Frederick– I think this is the first one probably since anyone traveled on horseback– we’re really excited to have him, and he’s going to have a lot of support from Frederick County Republicans.”
Cruz lost to Republican frontrunner Donald Trump in Tuesday’s New York primary. Next week’s primaries in Maryland and four other states will give him a chance to recoup some of the votes he lost in New York.
Cruz will appear in downtown Frederick at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. As of Wednesday evening, he is set to speak at the Weinberg Center for the Arts, but the venue may be changed to accommodate more people.
