WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Acting Chief Safety Officer for WMATA Louis Brown resigned Friday according to Metro spokesman Dan Stessel.
Stessel said Brown made the decision for “personal reasons” that aren’t related to recent safety issues that resulted in metro rail service being shut down entirely for a full 24 hours.
“As [Paul Wiedefeld] has mentioned, safety issues are among our highest priority and so will be finding a replacement for Mr. Brown,” said Stessel.
Stessel says interviews for Brown’s replacement will begin next week. The goal is to find a replacement by Brown’s last day on April 22.
