Starbucks unveils a new Cherry Blossom Frappuccino

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Spring is in the air, and Starbucks has a new … you guessed it … Frappuccino to celebrate.

The Cherry Blossom Frappuccino contains strawberry puree, cream, white chocolate sauce, whipped cream and matcha (green tea powder).

If that sounds delicious, you will have to get to a Starbucks quickly — they’re only available through Sunday, March 20.

Starbucks says the new Frappuccino is “inspired by the Japanese sakura tradition.” Sakura is the country’s cherry blossom festival, which is also celebrated in other parts of the world. The cherry blossom festival in Washington is a notorious popular tourist trap.

The Cherry Blossom Frappuccino appears pink and green like a cherry blossom.

Starbucks hasn’t posted the nutritional information for the limited-time drink. But the similar Strawberries & Crème Frappuccino with whole milk and whipped cream has 460 calories in a 24-ounce “Venti” serving.

This marks the first time that Starbucks has offered the Cherry Blossom Frappuccino in the United States, but it has been an annual tradition in Japanese Starbucks since 2010. The Japanese Frappuccino is called the Sakura Blossom & Strawberry Latte. Starbucks also offers Japanese customers a Sakura Blossom & Strawberry Frappuccino Blended Creme drink.

Themed Frappuccinos have become a Starbucks staple recently. Starbucks introduced a vampire-inspired Frappuccino over Halloweeen last October, and a birthday cake themed Frappuccino to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the icy drink.
