WASHINGTON (WMAL)– It’s been a bumpy ride on roads in Montgomery County since January’s blizzard. This week the county’s department of transportation is adding extra manpower and equipment to patch up potholes on county-owned roads.

“By the end of this week or first of this week, we’ll probably have just about all of them done.  There are some that probably in places that we could miss, which is why we urge people to call 311, and we’ll be out to repair them,” said County Executive Ike Leggett.

Since the blizzard, the county has filled more than 1,000 potholes. Most potholes are being filled with temporary asphalt called cold patch. Leggett said crews need to excavate and repave the areas with the worst potholes.

The county won’t be working on numbered routes, like 355 or 97. Those roads are maintained by the Maryland State Highway Administration.
