WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Funeral services for fallen Prince William County police officer Ashley Guindon were held Tuesday. Friends, family and fellow officers gathered in Woodbridge, VA at the Hylton Memorial Chapel to remember an officer whom so many feel was taken too soon.
“I spent many years in the domestic violence unit on midnights,” said Deputy Tim Moore of the Montgomery County sheriff’s department. “Knowing this was a domestic call, it just really hit home.”
Moore was one of the many law enforcement officials gathered outside of Hylton Memorial Chapel to pay tribute to Guindon’s life and service. Like Moore, many never even met Guindon.
“It shows that the entire nation feels a loss,” said NYPD officer Tim Craft who leads a delegation from New York to every line of duty funeral across the country. “Whether you work in the smallest town or the biggest city, we all do basically the same job.”
Prince William County police chief Steve Hudson gave a moving tribute to Guindon, who was shot and killed while responding to a domestic violence incident Saturday night in Woodbridge.
“Ashley will never leave you,” he said. “She will be a part of your life for the remainder of it. Her strength will inspire you. Her passion and drive will keep you moving day in and day out helping you get through these painful days and weeks and months with a positive memory of her and the warmth of knowing what she strove to do in her life.”
