WASHINGTON — (CNN) Ohio Governor and GOP presidential primary candidate John Kasich will host a town hall event at George Mason University on Monday at 10 a.m.

Former Congressman Tom Davis, Chairman of Kasich’s Virginia campaign will be in attendance along with Virginia Senator Mark Warner. All are welcome, according to Davis. The room seats about 750 people and they expect it to be at capacity.

“We think the Governor has a very good chance of taking delegates in northern Virginia and the Tidewater area,” said Davis. “Our polling shows our strongest parts are in northern Virginia, Virginia Beach, Norfolk and the Richmond suburbs.”

Davis repeatedly emphasized the significance of the proportional delegate system in Virginia primaries that will allow Kasich to make an impact without coming in first place. The early primary states, he says, are typically proportional and more conservative, whereas the later voting states are more traditional and often winner-take-all. As long as that is the case, Davis says this campaign is in it for the long haul.

“You get into Ohio, Illinois, Michigan. These are winner-take-all states,” he said. “We expect to sweep all the delegates in these states.”

And it’s not just the presidency at stake in this election, Davis insists, it’s the entire political system.

“For my republican friends, he’s the candidate that can win. And I think you have to think about that with the Supreme Court and Senate in balance.”
