Comcast-Xfinity experienced outages and connectivity issues across the country on Monday.
The company’s own outage map confirmed it.
The website downdetector.com showed nearly 16,000 outage reports as of 11 a.m. on Monday. As of 2:30 p.m., there were 674 outages reported. It appeared most of the outages in Connecticut had been restored by that time.
Customers not only reported experiencing outages for television subscriptions on Monday, but for the customer service as well.
Comcast released a statement on the outage at 12:30 p.m.
“We’re continuing to investigate what appears to be a temporary network interruption that impacted some of our services this morning. Our engineers have been working on this and services are starting to be restored. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused our customers,” said Laura Brubaker Crisco, who is the senior director for public relations at Comcast – Western New England Region.
Comcast provided an update at 1:22 p.m., saying “We have repaired the temporary network interruption that impacted some of our services this morning. Our engineers continue to work on this issue and almost all services have already been restored. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused our customers.”
According to downdetector’s outage map, it appeared the largest swath of outages was in the northeastern part of the country, spanning Boston to Baltimore. Some Connecticut customers have contacted Eyewitness News to report that they also were affected.
The most affected area appears to be Washington DC, according to Comcast’s website.
