WASHINGTON — (WMAL) The U.S. Armed Forces are laying a wreath at the Lincoln Memorial at 8 a.m. on Friday to mark Abraham Lincoln’s birthday.
Troops will play drumline music and place the wreath at the base of Lincoln’s statue.
“This is important for our country, that we pay tribute and honor all of our former presidents,” said Major General Brad Becker, Commander of the local Joint Force Headquarters.
President’s Day is on Monday, and ceremonies are expected thorughout D.C. to honor Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and other presidents thorughout history.
Lincoln is known for abolishing slavery and leading America through the Civil War in the 1860s.
