ABINGDON, MD — (WMAL) Two Harford County deputies are dead after a shootout in an Abingdon, Maryland shopping mall.

The suspected shooter died in the shootout with the officers, while the officers themselves succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Their names have not been released at this time.

Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said that the suspect had two court warrants.

One warrant was for assaulting an officer in Florida, while the other was a civil warrant issued by Harford County.

Multiple deputies responded to the shooting that began inside a Panera Bread. Two other deputies who shot and killed the suspect were unharmed.

“A loaded handgun was recovered from the suspect – inside the vehicle with him,” Sheriff Gahler said at a press conference.

Meanwhile, Governor Larry Hogan has ordered flags to fly at half-staff in memory of the deceased officers.
