5am – D North Korean satellite is in orbit, says South. (BBC) — A satellite sent into space by North Korea is in orbit but it is not yet clear whether it is working, South Korea’s defence ministry has said. The North has said the Kwangmyongsong-4 is a communications satellite and that Sunday’s launch was a complete success. But the move was internationally condemned as North Korea is banned under UN sanctions from using any ballistic missile technology. The UN has vowed to impose further sanctions as punishment. The US said on Monday that this could include “a range of economic sanctions that would further isolate North Korea” and send a clear signal “that the resolve of the international community here is firm”.

7am – A Latest Super Bowl News:
- Super Bowl Halftime Ratings: Beyonce, Bruno Mars, & Coldplay Score Touchdown. The Pepsi Halftime spectacle, which co-starred guests Beyonce and Bruno Mars, was the broadcast’s peak. It aired during the 8:30-9pm block and was watched by 115.5 million viewers. A gargantuan number, no doubt, but not enough to top the 118.5 million who tuned in to Katy Perry and Missy Elliott‘s showing last year.
- Super Bowl Scores 112M Viewers For CBS & NFL, Down From 2015: The Super Bowl and the NFL had a lot to feast on yesterday with its 50th anniversary and a third win for the Denver Broncos but record viewership wasn’t on the menu. With the final numbers in, last night’s Broncos 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers on CBS scored an audience of 111.9 million. Down from the past 2-years, Sunday’s game dropped 2.3% from the previous record holder of last year’s NBC broadcast Super Bowl. Sunday’s Super Bowl 50 now stands as the third most watched show in U.S. TV history. The 6:39 – 10:22 PM ET game peaked to 115.5 million viewers in the 8:30 – 9 PM slot.
- Newton Walks Out Of Interview Following Super Bowl 50 Loss. SANTA CLARA, Calif. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Cam Newton’s dream season ended with a nightmare performance. Fresh off being named the league’s MVP, the Panthers fifth-year quarterback was stymied by an aggressive Denver Broncos defense in his first Super Bowl appearance on Sunday. It didn’t get any better off the field, as Newton also walked out during his postgame interview. “I don’t know what you want me to say, I’m sorry,” a very dejected Newton said, prior to walking off.
- Beyonce gets political at Super Bowl, pays tribute to ‘Black Lives Matter.‘ (CNN) Fans and critics were appreciative of Beyoncé’s halftime show performance at Super Bowl 50 this Sunday, but her political message is now making waves. “I think it was outrageous,” former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani said on Fox News Monday, who said he didn’t get it from an artistic standpoint and didn’t agree with the pop diva’s politics and her support of “Black Lives Matter.” “The halftime show I thought was ridiculous anyway. I don’t know what the heck it was. A bunch of people bouncing around and all strange things. It was terrible,” Giuliani said. Beyoncé’s back-up dancers were dressed in all black, with black berets and afros — reminiscent of the way members of the Black Panther Party dressed in the 1960s. And Beyoncé donned a bandolier of bullets, similar to one famously worn by Michael Jackson during his 1993 world tour. One day before taking the stage with Coldplay and Bruno Mars at Super Bowl 50, Beyoncé dropped “Formation” — her first new single since 2014. The video was shot in New Orleans and features – references to Hurricane Katrina and images that are seen as rallying cries to the “Black Lives Matter” movement.

- Above freezing temperatures expected to keep snow totals down; slick roadways make for slow commute. WASHINGTON – Temperatures in the mid to upper 30s will keep snow totals lower than expected Tuesday as a winter storm moves through the area. A rain / snow mix will still fall and accumulate – just not as much as previously expected. Commuters can expect rush hour delays and cancelations throughout the day. An adjusted snow accumulation map shows the highest totals can be expected in the northern Maryland counties near the Pennsylvania line and covering Baltimore. 2 to 4 inches can be expected to fall along these areas. Less snow is expected in Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, and areas of Anne Arundel County with 1 to 2 inches being forecast. In the Washington D.C. metro area, a rain and snow mix with up to 1 inch of accumulation may fall.

Ted Cruz has set himself apart from his Republican rivals in the race for president by saying unequivocally that the idea is “nuts.” During Saturday’s presidential candidate debate in Manchester, N.H., everyone on stage who spoke seemed to be in favor of it. “I have to admit, as I was sitting there listening to that conversation, my reaction was, ‘Are you guys nuts?’” Cruz said of his rivals at a town hall style gathering in New Hampshire the next day.
- Trump repeats vulgar word audience member uses to describe Cruz.
