WASHINGTON (WMAL) — After a full week off, students are back in class Monday. The blizzard snowed on teachers’ grading plans.
“We had originally planned to distribute report cards on Wednesday Feb. 3, but of course with the storm that’s thrown our schedule off a bit and we hope to have those out as soon as possible,” Montgomery County Public Schools Spokesperson Gboyinde Onijala said.
Monday will be filled with both make-up exams and instruction.
“Our teachers are going to work as hard as they can to maximize the learning time they have,” she said.
The blizzard similarly messed with end-of-semester exams in Loudoun County Public Schools.
“Originally, Planning and Records Day was going to be Jan. 29, it is now going to be Feb. 5,” says LCPS Spokesman Wayde Byard. “It will just be like the end of the first semester if the first semester had ended Jan. 29.”
Fairfax County Schools will end their grading period on Thursday, Feb. 4.
FCPS Spokesman John Torre said via email that “after missing seven school days, principals and teachers are being asked to be flexible and fair with students when they return to school Monday, without overwhelming students with end of quarter exams or final assignments.”
