5am – E State Department Seeks to Delay Release of Final Clinton E-mails until After Iowa & New Hampshire. Blaming an unforeseen “oversight” and the blizzard starting to sweep through the nation’s capital, the State Department has asked a federal court to push back its deadline for the final release of Hillary Clinton’s e-mails a full month, to February 29. Government attorney Robert Prince appeared in the U.S. District Court for Washington, D.C. Friday morning to argue that the State Department needed more time to process thousands of pages of e-mails from Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state. After VICE news filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit last year, the Department was ordered to release the e-mails in monthly batches with a set completion date of January 31. The State Department has repeatedly failed to stick to that court-ordered schedule, missing a deadline in July, nearly missing another in August, overshooting its New Year’s Eve due date by more than a week, and then postponing an already-delayed January 7 deadline into the wee hours of January 8.

His decision will be based in large part on the state of the Democratic and Republican primaries after the Super Tuesday contests on March 1, the confidant said.
7am – D Did You Shovel? Did You Get Your Kids To Shovel?
7am – E INTERVIEW – VINCENT MORRIS – Spokesperson, Pepco
- “Great Job Pepco!” is not the typical response. But this time the power stayed on. (Washington Post) — It’s not often that power companies win praise for just keeping the lights on. But that’s what was happening Sunday morning, as the region woke up to historic snow totals and — surprise — fully-charged cell phones. For the most part, the power stayed on in the Washington area on Saturday and into Sunday, depite dire warnings from the utilities that residents would be in the dark for days or weeks. And D.C. area residents, accustomed to extended blackouts when major storms strike, showed their appreciation on social media. “Great job Pepco!” one person tweeted Sunday morning, referring to the often criticized utility company that serves the District and parts of Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. Another commenter posted a copy of Pepco’s nearly spotless online outage map and cheered: “Looking pretty good.”

8am– E Oscars So White:
- Matt Damon says Oscars has ‘a long, long, long way to go’ to solve diversity issue. Hollywood star Matt Damon is working on a new project — Good Will Confronting. Even though he received a Best Actor nomination for his film “The Martian,” Damon said the movie business has “a long, long, long way to go” when it comes to diversity. “We’re talking about huge systemic injustices around race and gender that are a lot bigger than the Oscars,” Damon told The Associated Press. “They’re massive issues in our industry and in our country.”
- Chris Rock Not Dropping Out Of Oscars, Rewriting Monologue to Address #OscarsSoWhite Outrage. Outrage over the lack of diversity among nominees at the Oscars will not keep Chris Rock from his hosting duties, the show’s producer told ET exclusively. ET’s Nischelle Turner sat down with Academy Awards producer Reginald Hudlin at the 47th NAACP Image Awards Nominee Luncheon on Saturday, where he confirmed that Rock will not be dropping out of the show. Hudlin also revealed that though the 50-year-old comedian finished writing his monologue a week ago, once the #OscarsSoWhite outrage came to a head with Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s pledge to boycott, Rock scrapped his jokes and started working on a new script. “Chris is hard at work. He and his writing staff locked themselves in a room,” Hudlin told ET. “As things got a little provocative and exciting, he said, ‘I’m throwing out the show I wrote and writing a new show.'”
- Danny DeVito on #OscarsSoWhite: ‘The Entire Country Is a Racist Country’ Danny DeVito gave a pretty blunt take on the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, saying at Sundance yesterday, “The entire country is a racist country.” DeVito lamented how “even though some people have given great performances in movies,” they were overlooked, possibly on the basis of race. “We are living in a country,” he said, “that discriminates and has certain… racist tendencies. So sometimes it manifests in things like this and it’s illuminated. But just generally speaking, we’re a bunch of racists.”
