WASHINGTON (WMAL) — Fairfax County is putting $1.7 million towards urbanizing its hot spots around the Silver Line.
Though the Silver Line is great for developing Tysons Corner and Reston, said Drew Sunderland of Tysons Parternship, it’s not enough.
“Once you get here via metro, you then need a variety of options to get you to and from the station,” Sunderland told WMAL.
While more neighborhoods and businesses are popping up, the urban setup isn’t complete until there are those options–he said, like Capital Bikeshare.
“It was an important step in creating a community here that is connected,” he said. “Both to itself within itself and to the Washington, D.C. region.”
This fall, riders can expect to see 132 bikes in Reston between 15 stations, and 80 bikes in Tysons between 11 stations.
