WASHINGTON — (WMAL) If you’re planning to spend New Year’s Eve in Washington, but aren’t sure what to do, Brandon Wetherbee has a few suggestions.
Wetherbee is a writer for Brightest Young Things, an activities website that highlights interesting things to do in the District.
If you’re looking to see a show tomorrow night, Wetherbee recommends the Chaka Kahn concert at the Kennedy Center.
“Chaka Kahn either influenced all the artists you like or is an artist you like, and she crosses generational barriers,” Wetherbee told WMAL.
He said that the Kennedy Center will ring in the New Year inside the concert hall.
For families with young children, he recommends Noon Yards Eve at Yards Park.
Instead of holding a ball drop at midnight, Yards Park will have it at noon, so families can celebrate without staying up late.
For people who just want to go out on the town, 80’s themed bar Slash Run in Petworth will be open early in the evening.
The family friendly establishment serves burgers and will have drinks on hand for the countdown.
