WASHINGTON (WMAL) — If you’ve been frustrated with Metro lately, you aren’t alone. A new WMATA survey finds metro rider satisfaction has fallen from 82 to 67 percent in the first three quarters of this year.

“There are always delays, and they’re never running on time,” says one metro rider. She’s voicing a common complaint among riders.

According to WMATA’s quarterly survey of riders, 30 percent of rider dissatisfaction is the direct result of reliability issues.

Riders have their own opinions about what Metro can do to improve, some told WMAL that the system needs to better schedule repairs, fix old rail car lighting and update their tracks. But, as one long-time rider put it, “Iit all comes down to the steady stream of funding. All of the jurisdictions need to pony up.”
