WASHINGTON — (WMAL) The Senate is expected to give final passage to a $607 billion defense policy bill on Tuesday.
The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) would ban President Obama from fulfilling a big campaign promise of closing Guantanamo Bay detention center and moving its inmates to the U.S.
The NDAA would also include $5 million in cuts to match the approved budget.
President Obama had previously vetoed another defense policy bill because of its additional war funding. Lawmakers decided to work on a new bill rather than try to override the president’s veto on the original.
