WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Among billboards in Times Square for Cup of Noodles and Broadway shows, there’s a large wanted poster for a Hanover man police say killed his wife at an Anne Arundel County Dunkin Donuts in April. The FBI thinks Bhadreshkumar Chetanbhai Patel fled to New Jersey where he has relatives, not his native India. He was last seen in the Garden State.
FBI Special Agent Heather Bergey said they’re hoping someone will see Patel’s picture and call them with tips. A $20,000 reward is being offered as incentive to get someone to lead them to Patel. Police believe Patel’s family in New Jersey may be helping him and stress anyone doing that will face criminal charges.
They know for sure Patel didn’t leave the country legally but aren’t sure if he got out illegally.
“We’re hoping we’re gonna find him one way or the other, whether it’s in the United States or India. We’re not gonna give up until we try every effort we can exert to locate him,” Bergey said.
The FBI uses billboards to try to catch fugitives when local police agencies need help, and there’s reason to believe the person may have crossed state lines.
