D.C. Man Accused of Throwing Baby Daughter Down Staircase

WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Prince William County Police have arrested a suspect in multiple assaults, including the abuse of a 7-month-old girl.

38-year-old James Brown ran away Tuesday night after he allegedly forced his way into a Woodbridge home after having an argument with a 53-year-old woman on her doorstep.

Officer Nathan Probus with Prince William County Police said that once inside the home, Brown assaulted that woman and then went to an upstairs bedroom and threw his 7-month-old daughter down the stairs, seriously injuring the baby’s leg.

After hurting the child, he hit her mother in the head with a glass bottle and ran away.

The baby and her mother were taken to the hospital.

Brown will likely be charged with malicious wounding, cruelty to children, burglary simple assault.
