FAIRFAX, VA — (WMAL) Day one of jury selection in the Charles Severance murder trial wrapped up Monday in Fairfax County.

100 potential jurors were screened for Severance’s trial later this month, when he’ll face charges including three separate capital murders in Alexandria. 48 of those jurors were dismissed. Many had child care obligations or owned their own business.

A potential problem arose earlier in the day when some of the potential jurors in the case were said to be posting information about today’s jury selection on Facebook, something that is not allowed. No jurors were dismissed for that specific reason.

Tomorrow the 52 remaining potential jurors will be back in court along with another new round of 50. The judge will question them to weed out people who may be prejudicial because they have learned about the case theogihou news reports and formed opinions.

Severance faces ten counts in relation to the killings of music teacher Ruthanne lodato in 2014, regional transit planner Ronald Kirby in 2013 and real estate agent Nancy Dunning in 2003.
