WASHINGTON — (WMAL) House Speaker John Boehner, a major leader in the Republican Party, announced today that he will step down from his position at the end of October.
Boehner became Speaker of the House of Representatives after Republicans won the 2010 midterm elections and has represented Ohio in Congress for 25 years.
He is expected to speak later today about his intentions to resign.
