5am – A/B/C Some Mormons Prepping for Doomsday This Month. (Newsmax) — A sizable number of Mormons in Utah are prepping for the end times, which they believe may begin this month, The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Several makers of survival food and gear report a huge spike in sales over the past few months. The reason is a mix of world events and prophecy from the Bible and a Mormon author who had a near death experience in 2004. The scenario is divided into seven-year periods and begins with the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The stock market crashed seven years later – in 2008 – and began a seven-year period of economic uncertainty. It has now been seven years since then, and the preppers believe things are aligning this month for the seven years of tribulation as outlined in the biblical book of Revelation. The Jewish high holy days begin on Sunday, and Sept. 28 will have a red full moon, known as a “blood moon.” Revelation also mentions the moon turning to blood.
5am – D Vanessa Williams gets Miss America apology — 32 years later. (CNN) — Actress and singer Vanessa Williams returned to the Miss America stage Sunday night, three decades after she became the first black woman to win the crown but resigned following a nude photo scandal. Now, after all these years, the Miss America CEO apologized to Williams on stage Sunday at the Miss America 2016 pageant for the way the scandal was handled. “I have been a close friend to this beautiful and talented lady for 32 years,” CEO Sam Haskell told Williams. “You have lived your life in grace and dignity, and never was it more evident than during the events of 1984 when you resigned. “Though none of us currently in the organization were involved then, on behalf of today’s organization, I want to apologize to you and to your mother, Miss Helen Williams,” Haskell said, as Williams’ eyes filled with tears. “I want to apologize for anything that was said or done that made you feel any less than the Miss America you are and the Miss America you always will be.”
5am – E Redskins come out swinging, but lose opener against Dolphins in a familiar way. With a new starting quarterback, rebuilt right side of the offensive line and overhauled defense, the retooled Washington Redskins opened their 2015 season Sunday at FedEx Field. But a host of familiar problems — interceptions, ill-timed penalties, a special-teams gaffe and gassed defenders down the stretch — produced an all-too-familiar result. The Redskins fell to Miami, 17-10, before a crowd of 76,615 whose loyalties were split. Washington loyalists cheered as the home team bolted to a 10-0 first-half lead.
6am – A/B/C Donald Trump Says Immigrant Deportations Done in Two Years. (WSJ) — Donald Trump estimated that it will take 18 months to two years to get the roughly 11 million immigrants living in the U.S. illegally to leave the country, and that he would then build a wall running along the border with Mexico. The businessman’s statement made on a call with Alabama Republicans Thursday night added a bit of specificity to the Republican presidential frontrunner’s hardline stance on immigration. Mr. Trump released a six-page policy paper on immigration last month, and reporters have asked for details about how it would work since. The Alabama Republican Party hosted the dial-in call with Mr. Trump Thursday night as part of series with the 2016 presidential candidates. Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz have also participated. On the call, Mr. Trump was asked for details about how long it would take to round up illegal immigrants living in the U.S., with the questioner asking if five or ten years was an appropriate timeframe. Mr. Trump said his two year benchmark could be met with “really good management.” “We have to get them out. If we have wonderful cases, they can come back in but they have to come back in legally,” Mr. Trump said in an audio clip posted on YouTube Thursday night by a person on the call.
6am – D Study: Happiest Parents Have 4 Or More Children. ATLANTA (CBS Atlanta) — A new study finds that the happiest parents are those who have four or more kids. According to The Daily Signal, a study conducted by Australia’s Edith Cowan University found parents had the most life satisfaction with larger families. “[The parents] usually say they always wanted a large family, it was planned that way, and it was a lifestyle they’d chosen,” study author Dr. Bronwyn Harman said, according to The Daily Signal. Harman spent five years interviewing hundreds of parents from different family makeups and based her findings on resilience, social support, self-esteem and life satisfaction. “What is important for kids are things like consistency, boundaries and [to] know that they are loved, no matter what,” Harman explained, The Daily Signal reports.
6am – E House rejects Obama’s Iran deal. The House on Friday rejected a resolution to approve the Iran nuclear deal, with the vote underscoring how controversial the accord has been with President Obama’s own party. While most Democrats voted to approve the nuclear bargain, 25 voted against it, creating a wedge that Republicans hope to use to their advantage in the 2016 elections. Every Republican voted against the resolution, with the exception of libertarian Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), who voted “present.” The tally was 162-269.

Here is a screenshot of the syllablus from local CBS affiliate KGBT-TV: Imagery of the syllabus went viral on social media this week during the public school’s first-ever week of classes, The station is not identifying the taxpayer-funded professor who, from the context of the syllabus, appears to specialize in statistics. - Colorado DJ fired over Taylor Swift accusation sues singer. (CNN)A former Colorado radio DJ sued Taylor Swift this week, after accusations that he “grabbed her bottom” got him fired from his job, according to a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court. In June 2013, David Mueller, known in Denver’s airwaves as “Jackson,” attended a Swift concert meet-and-greet with his girlfriend and co-worker Shannon Melcher. The backstage event was part of his job duties with station KYGO, where he was often required to interact with celebrities, according to court documents. Mueller and Melcher greeted Swift and had their picture taken with her. That picture is at the center of the dispute. Swift allegedly claimed that Mueller lifted her “skirt with his hands and grabbed her bottom.” Following her claim, Swift’s security team surrounded Mueller and Melcher and removed them from the concert grounds. The longest-serving governor in Texas history, who had never lost an election until he started running for president, told a group of conservative activists in St. Louis that “some things have become clear” and that it was time to suspend his campaign. “We have a tremendous field of candidates — probably the greatest group of men and women,” Perry said. “I step aside knowing our party is in good hands, as long as we listen to the grassroots, listen to that cause of conservatism.
