WASHINGTON- Loudoun County’s looking for a new Broad Run District Supervisor following the resignation of Shawn Williams Sunday hours after being charged with breaking into a neighbor’s home and pushing the neighbor during a fight.
As of Thursday morning one person had submitted an application and others planned to according to Board Chairman Scott York.
“I don’t think they’ll be any problem in finding a good individual who will be able to fill the seat,” York said.
Applications are due Sept. 15. York called a special meeting Sept. 21 to select the interim replacement who will serve until the end of 2015. This person would not be eligible to serve on the board next year as the deadline for applications has passed.
York has also had to find a new treasurer for his re-election campaign since Williams had served in that position.
“I have a great individual who is volunteering treasurer to the campaign, so everything is moving forward, and things continue to go well in the re-election campaign,” York said.
York told Williams Sunday that he needed to spend his time getting help for a drinking problem, not serving on the board of supervisors. In a statement, Williams said he would seek treatment for alcoholism.
