WASHINGTON – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office continued its search Friday night for the two to three people they think shot and killed a 17-year-old Park View High School student around 8:30 a.m. in the area of E. Cornell Drive in Sterling.
Sheriff Mike Chapman said they think they know where two of the suspects are, and one of the three may be armed.
Chapman told reporters the suspects shot the teen multiple times but couldn’t say where. The teen’s name is being withheld until the sheriff’s office can contact his family.
“But as the victim and the suspects were known to each other it seems to be a crime involving that rather than some sort of a random shooting,” said Chapman.
Some elementary schools in the county were put in lock out mode after the shooting, which meant nobody could enter or leave the school, but classes inside went on as usual. Park View High School was in lock-down mode, meaning nobody could enter or leave the school, and students were being held in their classrooms. Despite the fact that the search was still underway during regular dismissal time, students were allowed to go home.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 703-777-0445.
