ROCKVILLE, MD — (WMAL) The principal of Wootton High School in Rockville was found dead early Wednesday morning.

Dr. Michael Doran, principal of Wootton for 12 years, was found unresponsive in his home.

Montgomery County Police are not invesigating his death as suspicious and it is assumed that he died of natural causes.

Larry Bowers, Interim Superintendent of Montgomery County Schools said in a press release that Dr. Doran worked in the school system for 18 of his 40 years in education.

“This news is shocking to all of us who have known and worked with Dr. Doran during his long, distinguished career in education,” Bowers said.

Wootton High School will open on August 31st as scheduled.
