WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Maryland’s largest corn maze dubbed itself #HoganStrong with a theme that recognizes the state’s governor who’s fighting cancer.

Lawyer’s Farm in Thurmont decided on the annual corn maze theme “Maryland Pride”.

“This year when we were thinking of what we could possibly do, it happened to fall around the time that the governor announced his diagnosis,” said Taylor Huffman, a manager at the family-owned farm. “So we decided to do ‘Maryland Pride’ and include symbols that represent Maryland.”

One of these symbols was the state’s very-own, Governor Hogan.

“We incorporated the governor with the trending #HoganStrong because we figured we could tie it in with our fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, in hopes of drawing big crowds.”

The governor himself couldn’t help but take notice.

“Wow!! That is amazing! The design of Lawyer’s Farm’s 2015 Corn Maze is called “Maryland Pride” and I am so touched by the tribute and impressed by the artistry! #MDPride #HoganStrong,” posted the governor on social media.

Hogan announced he had “a very advanced and very aggressive” form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in late June of this year.

The governor shared via social media on Tuesday that he is now 95 percent cancer free.
