ASHBURN — (WMAL) Well… would you rather have a quarterback who DOESN’T think he can win?

It wouldn’t be August without having some quotable quote from Redskins starting quarterback Robert Griffin III – and this time he’s delivered a doozy. The 4th year signal-caller told WJLA-TV he believes he’s the best the NFL has to offer:

“I don’t feel like I have to come out here and show anybody anything or why I’m better than this guy or better than that guy. It’s more about going out and affirming that for me, I go out and I play, I know I’m the best quarterback on this team. I feel like I’m the best quarterback in the league and I have to go out and show that,” he said. “Any athlete at any level, if they concede to someone else, they’re not a top competitor, they’re not trying to be the best that they can be. There’s guys in this league that have done way more than me. But I still view myself as the best because that’s what I work toward every single day.”

After last year’s disastrous season, in which RGIII missed 6 games with a dislocated ankle, only to be benched by coach Jay Gruden shortly after his return, Griffin largely stayed off of Facebook and Twitter so he could avoid distraction and presumably work on his game. He really needs to. In Griffin’s last 20 starts, the Redskins have a 5 – 15 record.

Quite a losing streak for the NFL’s best quarterback.
