BETHESDA, MD — (WMAL) Naval Support Activities Bethesda will run rescue drills in the woods near the Military Medical Center today, and on three other designated drill days in August.
The drills are designed to simulate sudden emergency situations in the field and will include simulated gunfire, smoke and paintball guns.
Ronald Inman, Public Affairs Officer for the NSAB, warned neighbors that any gunshots they hear from the Uniformed Services University on August 11th would not be a threat.
“We just want to make sure that our neighbors and people here and adjacent to us know if they hear anything that it’s a military exercise, and not actual gunshots,” he said.
The program will train students at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, so they can be prepared for real life situations with casualties.
Drills will be run on August 11th, August 12th, August 17th and August 18th.
