RICHMOND, VA — (WMAL) Former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell will not get a rehearing after a federal appeals court ruled on Tuesday that he could not challenge his case before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Three judges unanimously rejected McDonnell’s request for a rehearing of his case, but on Tuesday his attempts to bring it before the entire court were rejected by the court itself.

Bob and Maureen McDonnell, Virginia’s former first family, were convicted last year on corruption charges.

The family recieved $177,000 in gifts from businessman Jonnie R. williams Sr. while McDonnell was governor.

Bob McDonnell will have to report to prison if the charges are not overturned.

The only way the case can continue is if it is brought before th United States Supreme Court.

Maureen McDonnell is having a separate hearing for her case in October.
