Arrest Made in July 4 Metro Stabbing

WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Metropolitan Police Department announced that an arrest was made in the homicide that occurred at NOMA-Gallaudet Metro Station.

On Monday, officers located and arrested 18-year-old Jasper Spires of Washington, D.C. in the 4800 block of Georgia Avenue, NW. He was charged with murder while armed.

Police say on July 4, around 12:50 pm, they were alerted of a stabbing at the NOMA-Gallaudet Metro Station. When they arrived, they found an unconscious male suffering from stab wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Services found no signs of life. The victim was transported to Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Kevin Joseph Sutherland of Northeast, Washington, D.C.
