WASHINGTON (WMAL) — With Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan starting chemotherapy treatments, many wonder what will happen to looming deadlines on major decisions, including whether or not to fund the Purple Line.
“If he believes he’s able to do his job and receive treatment, I don’t know that he can really delay those decisions much longer,” says Todd Eberly, chair of the political science department at St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
Hogan has previously said that he will make a decision by the end of June. Eberly said he expects Hogan to follow through.
“I have a hard time imagining that the governor would come out and say, ‘Well, because of this treatment,’ Or, ‘Because of what I am going through, I’m going to hold off on making that decision,'” Eberly told WMAL. “In many ways, that would sort of contradict what he had said in his press conference.”
President of Purple Line Now Ralph Bennet says he also trusts that a decision is coming on schedule.
“He did assure us that the business of the state would continue to be done,” Bennet told WMAL. “There’s no point in second guessing.”
