5am – A         INTERVIEW – JOE MANTEGNA – Hollywood actor and co-host of this year’s National Memorial Day Concert

Gloria Estefan, Katherine Jenkins and other artists are set to perform at this year’s National Memorial Day Concert outside the U.S. Capitol. Actors Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna will host the show to honor the nation’s veterans and service members on the West Lawn of the Capitol. The concert begins at 8 p.m. Sunday. Sinise and Mantegna will host the concert for the 10th consecutive year. Both have long been dedicated to veterans and issues facing service members.

5am – B         Hillary Clinton received email from Sidney Blumenthal blaming Benghazi on “Internet video”: (The Hill) — A close friend of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sent her a memo initially blaming the 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya, on an anti-Islamic video before walking that assertion back one day later, according to a batch of Hillary Clinton’s emails released by The New York Times.   Clinton received about 25 memos on Libya from Sidney Blumenthal, a former Clinton aide who had business dealings with the country’s transitional government. She forwarded some of those emails to her senior staff, in some cases asking them to act on the findings, without identifying him as the source. One exchange between Clinton aide Jake Sullivan and Ambassador Christopher Stevens, who later died in the Benghazi attack, referred to Blumenthal only as “HRC friend.” Blumenthal initially sent Clinton an email one day after the 2012 attacks that blamed them on “demonstrators … inspired by what many devout Libyans viewed as a sacrilegious internet video on the prophet Mohammed.” Clinton forwarded that email to Sullivan, her top foreign policy aide, calling it “more info.” He sent a new memo the next day that told the secretary that “sensitive sources” believed it was actually a terrorist attack.

5am – C         Joe Morrissey & former teen secretary to get married, have more kids. RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The speculation is over. The worst kept secret in Richmond is out. Former Virginia Delegate and Virginia Senate candidate Joe Morrissey confirmed Wednesday that he is the father of a baby boy with his former secretary, 19-year-old Myrna Pride. Morrissey admitted to fathering baby Chase on the Jack Gravely Show that airs on WLEE radio. On Thursday, Morrissey and Pride provided further details of their relationship during a press conference held at his law office in Henrico County. Morrissey began by reiterating that he was in fact the father of nine-year-old Chase. He went on to refute allegations that he impregnated Pride before she was 18.

5am – D         DC police confirm suspect in quadruple homicide is in custody. Police: Suspect arrested in D.C. quadruple homicide. (WUSA) — A suspect charged in the killing of three family members and a housekeeper last week in a $4.5 million mansion in Washington, D.C., was taken into custody late Thursday, police said. Daron Dylon Wint, age 34, of Maryland was taken into custody in Northeast D.C., Chief Cathy Lanier confirmed. Wint was named in an arrest warrant charging him with first-degree murder while armed. Earlier, Washington police said they believed Wint fled Washington for New York City, but they had not ruled out the possibility that others might be involved in the brutal killings. Police are looking into the possibility that Wint took a bus to New York at some point, stayed with his girlfriend Wednesday night and left during the early morning, WNBC-TV reports.

5am – E         Man strips naked at Charlotte airport, upset about overbooked flight. An airline passenger stripped naked at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport after apparently becoming upset that his US Airways flight was overbooked. WCNC TV of Charlotte says the man “stripped down to the buff right in front of everyone, including kids.” He remained in the gate area for about 40 minutes until police led him away, the station reports. Sherry Ketchie, another passenger traveling through Charlotte at the time, snapped photos of the incident and posted them to Facebook. Ketchie says the man was at a gate for a US Airways flight departing for Jamaica. She says she only became aware of the situation because of the commotion it caused, according to WBTV of Charlotte.

6am – A/B/C            Robert Gates: Boy Scouts’ ban on gay adult leaders not sustainable. ‘We must deal with the world as it is, not as we might wish it to be,’ he tells BSA leadership. (Yahoo! News) — The Boy Scouts of America must reverse its longstanding policy of excluding gay adult leaders or risk unfavorable legal decisions that could doom the historic organization, its president, Robert Gates, warned his group’s national leadership Thursday. “We must deal with the world as it is, not as we might wish it to be,” said Gates, a former Pentagon and CIA chief. “The status quo in our movement’s membership standards cannot be sustained.” Gates’s remarks came during the during the BSA’s annual national meeting in Atlanta. The 105-year-old organization took no immediate action on a formal policy change, but Gates said he would no longer seek to revoke the charters of chapters that want to defy the ban. “We cannot ignore growing internal challenges to our current membership policy from some councils,” he said. “Nor can we ignore the social, political and juridical changes taking place in our country — changes taking place at a pace over this past year no one anticipated.” Gates pointed to recent debates over same-sex marriage and a trend in new state laws that protect employment rights on the basis of sexual orientation.

6am – D         Memorial Day weekend true test for Ocean City’s smoking restrictions. (WTOP) — OCEAN CITY, Md. – It’s more than a line in the sand. It’s a line around the boardwalk. Ocean City’s new smoking restrictions took effect earlier this month, but Memorial Day weekend will be the first real test for visitors. “There is no smoking allowed anywhere on the boardwalk now in Ocean City,” says Mayor Rick Meehan. The ordinance went into effect May 1. Most of the beach is also smoke free, with the exception of some designated smoking areas. People won’t be able to smoke on the Ocean City boardwalk, beach access-ways or in city parks and bus stop shelters. The smoking ban went into effect on Friday. The new rule doesn’t just apply to cigarettes. No cigars, pipes or even e-cigarettes are allowed.

6am – E         Entertainment News:

  • Maggie Gyllenhaal was told 37 is too old to play love interest of a 55-year-old man. Maggie Gyllenhaal is an Oscar-nominated, award-winning actress — but even she has troubles getting roles because of that irksome little problem Hollywood has with sexism. Gyllenhaal revealed in an interview with The Wrap that she once got turned down for a role because of her age, despite the male co-lead being 18 years older than her: “There are things that are really disappointing about being an actress in Hollywood that surprise me all the time. I’m 37 and I was told recently I was too old to play the lover of a man who was 55. It made me feel bad, and then it  made me feel angry, and then it made me laugh.” Gyllenhaal wouldn’t mention what movie or actor it was, but with her recent award-winning turn in the Sundance miniseries The Honourable Woman, she was probably better off staying away from it anyway.
  • So about that ‘Mad Men’ finale add. Show boss Matthew Weiner spills: (USA Today) — It turns out that Mad Men, the history-making TV drama about advertising that just ended, wrapped things up by tweaking ad history. That’s one takeaway from show boss Matthew Weiner’s post-finale discussion at the New York Public Library on Wednesday night — his only scheduled interview after the four-time Emmy-winning drama ended its seventh and final season on AMC on Sunday. Weiner revealed lots of things about the last episode (the interview lasted 90 minutes and he never stopped talking), which can be viewed at the library’s website. But the biggest buzz was about the final moments of the finale. Ad man Don Draper, who’s trying to “find himself” at an Esalen-like spiritual retreat in California, is meditating in the sunshine when the scene abruptly shifts to a Coca-Cola ad.  Over to you, Matt: That’s indeed what it’s supposed to mean, Weiner said in his interview with A.M. Homes at the library. “In the abstract, I did think, why not end this show with the greatest commercial ever made?,” he said. “In terms of what it means to people and everything, I am not ambiguity for ambiguity’s sake. But it was nice to have your cake and eat it too, in terms of what is advertising, who is Don and what is that thing?”
  • Raven-Symoné & Michelle Collins to Join The View as Permanent Co-Hosts? Find Out What Whoopi Goldberg Said! Raven-Symoné, 29, and comedienne Michelle Collins, 33, who have guest co-hosted the ABC daytime show more than a dozen times each since March, may be made permanent co-hosts. Veteran co-host Whoopi Goldberg, 59, announced the news on Thursday on the program, which has seen a lot of casting shake-ups since its 1997 debut. Page Six had reported in April that ABC was interested in having Raven-Symoné co-host The View full-time. “We love saying it, but Raven and Michelle will be back tomorrow,” Goldberg said. “We’re trying to make it permanent, so write in to everybody.”
  • RG3’s First Child (A Baby Girl!) Was Born. (CBS) — WASHINGTON — Congratulations are in order for Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III and his wife Rebecca on the birth of their first child. The Redskins starter had said in an interview last month if the child was a baby boy, he’d be named “RGIV.” Looks like that was not the case. Griffin, who last tweeted the announcement of his wife’s pregnancy on Feb. 12, tweeted a photo of his newborn child, named Reese Ann Griffin, on Thursday, May 21, 2015 — born a healthy-looking 7 pounds, 9 oz.

7am – A         INTERVIEW – JOE MANTEGNA – Hollywood actor and co-host of this year’s National Memorial Day Concert

Sunday. 7am – B         Reality star Duggar resigns from Family Research Council. NEW YORK (AP) — The Family Research Council has accepted the resignation of Josh Duggar in the wake of the reality TV star’s apology for unspecified bad behavior as a young teen.  Tony Perkins, president of the Washington-based Christian lobbying group, said in a statement Thursday that Duggar resigned because of information becoming public that he believed would “make it difficult for him to be effective.” As executive director of FRC Action, he served as a public face of the organization. Reality TV star Josh Duggar issued an apology Thursday after reports surfaced that he allegedly molested girls as a teenager, saying: “I acted inexcusably.” Duggar, 27, is the oldest of the children who appear on TLC’s hit show “19 Kids and Counting.” The Duggars are known for being devout Christians who don’t believe in practicing birth control and whose children follow strict courtship rules. “Twelve years ago, as a young teenager I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends,” Josh Duggar said in a post on Facebook. “I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling.” He also resigned from his position at the Family Research Council.

7am – C         Woman Says Her Wi-Fi Connection Is Making Her Sick. NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — From using cell phones and computers to watching movies online, wireless technology has made life easier. But now, some say there is a serious downside. As CBS2’s Maurice Dubois explained, there are those who claim that exposure to Wi-Fi is making people sick, and some people don’t even know it. “Brain fog. That’s my worst problem. A brain fog,” Suzanne Hoyt said. Hoyt said that nothing prepared her for the rush of symptoms that she suddenly developed. “Headaches, perspiration, pain in my jaws and my heart. It’s like physical expansion of the heart,” she said. Hoyt said it all started when she installed Wi-Fi throughout her apartment. “I started to be very uncomfortable, and I didn’t know what it was,” she said. With Wi-Fi everywhere, from parks to restaurants and taxis it turns out Hoyt is not alone. “It was like a deep burning sensation in my face, in my nose, my jaw, it was like a deep burning sensation,” she said.

7am – D         INTERVIEW — ROD WHEELER – former DC Homicide Detective

  • DC police confirm suspect in quadruple homicide is in custody.  Police: Suspect arrested in D.C. quadruple homicide. A suspect charged in the killing of three family members and a housekeeper last week in a $4.5 million mansion in Washington, D.C., was taken into custody late Thursday, police said.

7am – E         CBS throws Letterman set into Dumpster. Thanks, Dave. Now get out!(NY Post) — CBS wasted no time in kicking David Letterman’s set to the curb. Sentimental fans gathered outside the Ed Sullivan Theater on Thursday to watch as stagehands unceremoniously crushed and sawed through iconic pieces of the “Late Show” backdrop the day after the final show. “I can’t believe they’re just demolishing the whole thing. It’s shocking,” said Stephanie Strausz, of Manhattan, who scored a second-row ticket to Wednesday’s star-studded finale. “It should go in the Smithsonian, not the Dumpster,” she said. Strausz was one of many “Late Show” lovers who successfully snagged a keepsake from a theater Dumpster that overflowed with red audience seats and bits of the bridges that made up the set behind Letterman’s desk. More than a dozen fans waited for the workers and security to clear out Thursday evening before descending on the talk-show trash like vultures, scavenging for salvageable relics. “Show business. They don’t waste much time,” executive producer Rob Burnett said via Instagram, next to a photo he took of the gutted theater.

8am – A         INTERVIEW – MICHAEL FOLEY – author of “Drinking with the Saints: The Sinner’s Guide to a Holy Happy Hour”

  • I’ll Drink to That!!  One part bartender’s guide, one part spiritual manual, a dash of lightheartedness, and mixed with love: Drinking with the Saints is a book which both sinner and saint will savor. WASHINGTON, D.C.—What day of the year should I drink a Knockdown? How many saints should be honored with a martini? What is the best and godliest champagne cocktail for ushering in the New Year? What liqueur, produced by highly secretive monks, is the finest in the world? At long last, there is a book that answers all of these pressing questions. Drinking with the Saints: The Sinner’s Guide to a Holy Happy Hour (Regnery Publishing; May 4, 2015; $26.99) pairs wines, beer, spirits, and cocktails with the solemnities and saints’ feast days of the Church calendar. Noted author and academic Michael P. Foley mixes Church history with delicious drink recipes and adds a pinch of catechetical charisma to create the perfect guide through the liturgical calendar. In addition to shedding light on the history behind each saint’s day, Foley brings to light the refined and temperate art of drinking, an art which involves a discerning palate, a sense of moderation, and a generous dose of self-knowledge. He promotes moderation and reverence, for pouring and mixing a special beverage in honor of a particular saint adds an extra note of jubilation and recognition. So, Cheers! Cent’anni! Prost! Salut! And pick up Drinking with the Saints.

8am – B         Memorial Day Weekend Preview

8am – C         Chelsea Clinton Is Writing The Saddest Children’s Book Ever. (Daily Caller) — Chelsea Clinton is about to become the author of what could be the saddest children’s book ever. Penguin Random House announced Wednesday it will publish the 35-year-old’s first book, and the publishing company said that “It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going!” wants to inspire children “to change the world.” How does it want to do that? By discussing “poverty” and “gender equality,” Penguin Young Readers said in a statement.  “In ‘It’s Your World,’ I try to explain what I think are some of the biggest challenges facing our world today, particularly for young people,” Chelsea Clinton said in a statement. “I also explore some of the solutions to those challenges and share stories of inspiring kids and teenagers doing amazing work to help people and our planet have brighter and healthier futures.” The book is aimed at readers who are 10 to 14.

Top Staffers Quit Clinton Foundation Over Chelsea. (Washington Free Beacon) —  Chelsea Clinton’s unpleasantness is causing high turnover at the Clinton Foundation, the New York Post reports.  Several top staffers have left the foundation since Chelsea came on board as vice chairman in 2011.  “A lot of people left because she was there. A lot of people left because she didn’t want them there,” an insider told me. “She is very difficult.” Old colleagues also told the New York Post that Chelsea is difficult to work with. None of this would surprise her former co-workers at McKinsey and NBC News. At both the management consulting firm and the network, co-workers allegedly were told they couldn’t approach Chelsea.

8am – D         INTERVIEW – FRED FROMMER – journalist and author of a book on Washington baseball history, “You Gotta Have Heart: A History of Washington Baseball from 1859 to the 2012 National League East Champions”

  • Friday-Sunday: The Washington Nationals are the hottest team in baseball, having won five in a row while climbing into first place in the National League East.  The Nats have a prime opportunity to build on that success on this holiday weekend when the game-and-a-half-out-of-last-place Phillies come to Nationals Park for a three-game series. Saturday’s game, with Stephen Strasburg taking the mound for Washington has the perfect start time of 4:05 p.m., and it’s a “Pups in the Park” day. Tickets range from $20 to $360.
  • Harper, Williams ejected against Yanks, but Nats rally to win MAY 20, 2015 8:30p ET – WASHINGTON   —  Bryce Harper is not known for hiding his thoughts, and so he certainly did not shy away from sharing what was on his mind after getting ejected from a game for the second time in seven days. He was incredulous. He was upset. And the two-time reigning NL Player of the Week, who entered Wednesday with 10 homers in his previous 12 games, wound up in a bit of a he-said, he-said with home plate umpire Marvin Hudson, who kicked out Nationals cleanup hitter Harper and manager Matt Williams in the third inning of a 3-2 victory for Washington over the New York Yankees.

MONDAY:  Peter Morici, Joe diGenova and Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer. Guest host: Austin Hill
