(WASHINGTON) — It looks like this time, we'll be the bride instead of the bridesmaid.
After months of just missing the winter storm tracks that have brought record-setting snows to New England, the DC area is gearing up for its first significant winter storm of the season, as precipitation moves into the area late Monday afternoon.
With temperatures well below freezing, there will be no wintry mix or rain/snow line to contend with. The snow that falls shall stick instantly, and Weather Channel Meteorologist Richard Llewelling tells WMAL it promises to leave 5 to 8 inches of fresh powder by the time it exits the area Tuesday morning.
Stick with WMAL.com throughout the day Monday for the latest on school and government closings and delays.
