The first happened in Southeast DC, as officers chased a robbery suspect. He found himself in a dead-end, turned and fired at the cops, who then returned fire. That suspect was killed.
A few hours later, in Northeast Washington, police got a call for an armed carjacking of a FedEx vehicle. The suspect in that case also shot at police, who then shot back. THAT suspect survived and is now in the hospital.
These were the first police-involved shootings in DC since tensions between officers and their communities began ratcheting up. Both shooting scenes were calm last night.
