WASHINGTON–Former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell's lawyers are preparing to ask a federal court to consider several sentencing options other than prison, according to two sources close to McDonnell who were quoted in the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The U.S. probation office has determined that McDonnell should face 10 years or more, when he's sentenced in a couple of weeks.
His lawyers will argue that society would be better served by utilizing McDonnell's talents and leadership skills in some kind of public service.
