WASHINGTON (AP) – Metro says train service has been restored on the blue, orange and silver lines between Farragut West and L'Enfant Plaza after a water main break flooded part of Metro Center.
Service was restored on the three lines just before 9 a.m. Tuesday. The transit agency urged commuters to take alternate travel options during the morning rush. Metro says a water main break at 12th and F streets caused the disruption. Residual delays may continue.
Suspending service on three lines affects tens of thousands of commuters. Transit officials say there were major delays and crowding after service was suspended.
A Metro spokesman said water came down into the Metro Center station and flooded the lower-level tracks. Metro has water pumps to remove such flooding from its tracks.
