Man Steals Ambulance At Accident Scene, Crashes It Into 12 Cars, Killing One Person In Greenbelt

GREENBELT — One person was killed when a stolen ambulance crashed into 12 cars before flipping on its side in Greenbelt.

Prince George's County fire department spokesman Mark Brady says the crash occurred Sunday evening in a parking lot at Greenbelt Road and 62nd Avenue.  Alvin Hargrave, 77, of Greenbelt was killed and two persons were injured in the crash, including a pregnant woman.

The ambulance had been stolen from an accident scene on the Beltway about 15 minutes before the crash.  The unit's crew saw a car go off the road, and they stopped to assist.  The driver of the car attacked the crew, then stole the ambulance and took off.  A fire spokesman says both members of the crew were shaken, but not seriously hurt.

The ambulance soon exited the Beltway and crashed into three other vehicles, then rolled down an embankment and overturned, striking seven unoccupied vehicles in the parking lot of Joe's Crab Shack.

The driver of the ambulance Sebastian Isaksen, 34, was arrested as he left the vehicle and charged with carjacking and assault.  He was also taken to a hospital with critical injuries.
