(NEW YORK) — The NFL on Sunday night confirmed what had been rumored for over a month: Katy Perry will headline the 2015 Super Bowl halftime show.
Katy's performance was officially announced during NBC's Sunday Night Football broadcast of the Dallas Cowboys-New York Giants game.
The singer, who's currently touring Australia, subsequently tweeted that her band was watching the game, and added, "Can’t wait for February 1st."
Katy further wrote that she's "already started testing out ideas!"
In conjunction with the announcement, Pepsi has released a comical new spot starring Katy in which she shows fans her "halftime testing facility," where she throws out ideas for her performance.
NBC will air Super Bowl 49 live from the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona on Sunday, February 1, 2015.
Katy strongly hinted at her Super Bowl appearance last month, when, following a report that she would perform at the big game, she tweeted, "Ahh, Sunday…Nothing but sitting on the couch, watching my new favorite sport…," with a football emoji added at the end.
