Time for public to learn more about Trump Tower meeting (Washington Examiner)

Republicans from President Trump down often declare that there was no collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign during the 2016 election. So far, Democrats have not been able to prove otherwise. But the most compelling piece of evidence cited by the president’s opponents is the June 9, 2016, meeting in Trump Tower between Donald Trump Jr., some key Trump campaign aides, and a group of Russians who came promising damaging information about Hillary Clinton. Much remains unknown about that meeting.

A pre-meeting email from, improbably, a British music promoter, Rob Goldstone, to Trump Jr. was almost of a parody of a “WE WOULD LIKE TO COLLUDE WITH YOU” invitation. A powerful Russian had “offered to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father,” Goldstone wrote Trump Jr. “This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump …” [Read More]

Some NBA teams played ‘negro national anthem’ at games (ABC News)

Several NBA teams have played what is known as the “negro national anthem” at games during Black History Month thanks in part to the urging of a retired Howard University professor.

Eugene Williams, a 76-year-old retiree in Clinton, Maryland, has made it his goal to get professional and collegiate teams to play “Lift Every Voice and Sing” during February. He has been calling and writing teams for the past six months.

The Washington Wizards became the fourth NBA team to play the song at a game, doing so during a timeout midway through the first quarter against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night. As the song played, a video was shown with on-court highlights and Wizards players engaging in community activities. [Read More]

VA IG Findings Create A Serious Credibility Problem For Shulkin In Hacking Claims (The Daily Caller)

Department of Veteran Affairs Secretary David Shulkin’s insinuation to Congress that the department had been hacked was not based in fact, the agency’s inspector general said Tuesday.

The accusations raise serious questions about whether Shulkin attempted to mislead Congress by implying that an incriminating email attributed to his chief of staff might not be authentic because someone had stolen her identity. [Read More]

Sharyl Attkisson Accuses Obama DOJ of Secretly Swapping Out Her Computer Hard Drive (PJ Media)

Former CBS correspondent Sharyl Attkisson accused the Department of Justice (DOJ) of monkeying around with her hard drive while her computer was in their possession. She tweeted on Thursday, “What would you think if I told you the hard drive of one of my personal computers was secretly switched out w/another while in custody of the Justice Dept. Inspector General– before they gave it back to me?”

You may recall that Attkisson’s computer was hacked back in 2012 while she was working for CBS and reporting on the Benghazi scandal. CBS News spokeswoman Sonya McNair said at the time that a cybersecurity firm hired by CBS News “has determined through forensic analysis” that “Attkisson’s computer was accessed by an unauthorized, external, unknown party on multiple occasions in late 2012.” [Read More]
